My True Love

My true love arrived and slowly but surely,

Brick by brick

He tore down the wall

I had built up over the years to protect

Myself from imposters

Like the ones I allowed access to my heart

In the past

Then you walked into my life

My true love

And I welcomed you across

The thresholds of my world

And you walked through the

Rooms in my mind and I

Revealed to you all my hopes and dreams

You performed open heart surgery

On my heart

And my heart healed

So I could love you

Something no one else could ever do!
